So, I came to a crazy (good) realization today… I don’t have a religion. Yup, you read that correctly! I do not have a religion. Nope. Nada. Zero… But how?? Well, truth is, religion has become more of a status these days rather than a change of heart. So instead of saying I have a religion, I have a relationship.
Just like any relationship one has, I actively pursue God and He does the same for me. Why? Because I want to know God. I want to be with Him, open my heart up to Him, and be filled with the joy and love that comes with HIS unfathomably great love. I also want to have those difficult moments in a relationship. Those moments that need to happen so you can face the questions and concerns you are afraid to face otherwise. Those are some of the greatest moments in a relationship because you grow the most from them. Additionally, I want to love others with the love He freely and abundantly gives. There is nothing more beautiful than being loved so much by someone, that it then causes you to want to love others with the same fiery and passionate love. I also just want to spend time with Him and learn from Him. I want to dedicate my life to Christ, just like one does for someone they deeply care about and love. Just like He did for you and I.
I don’t want to just study God’s word, I want to live it. I don’t want to say I’ll do one thing, and then go around and do another. I don’t want to live a life that is just ok, when I know a fully loving, adventurous, and caring life with Him is right there in my grasps. I don’t want to look back and just be “talking” with God. I want a full on relationship. Not a religion. Following Christ is so much more than a religion, and we often forget that our glorious Father just wants to know us and love us. He knows us better than we know ourselves…much like a spouse or best friend does, but in an incredibly deep kind of love.
Remember, He loves you no matter what you have done, because His son loved you enough to die for you. His son gave us the chance to get to know our heavenly Father without feeling shameful or guilty of the things we have done. Jesus gave us the chance to make a fairy tale relationship come true. Now how beautiful of a relationship is that?
