Your time here on earth is short, but it is also the longest thing you will ever endure and know. Your time is not something that can be negotiated with God. It is not your friend. It is not your enemy. Time is simply a reminder. It is a reminder on what your limited amounts of breaths are being spent on doing. And each pulse is a reminder too. A reminder that you were put on this Earth for a specific reason in a beautiful creation.
God has a plan for you, but you have to be the one to say yes. He gives you the choice and gives you a certain amount of time to decided, do, and fulfill that purpose. Now some of us may have only a moment, or 5 years, or 16 years, or 50 years, or even 110 year! However many years God gifts us is set by Him for a reason. And that is hard to swallow. It is difficult to comprehend that we have no control over how much time we have on this familiar place, but we must trust that reason and focus on the things God has set in our hearts for us to complete. After all, the bible states, “Do not be afraid” 365 times for a reason.
Something that I know I forget often is that WE are the ones that are bound by time. We are the ones that are not infinite. Thankfully, I can rest knowing that God is not bound by anything. He is not bound by time, by people, by feelings, by actions, or even by laws. He is the creator of time and space and everything we come to know. While we all have different amounts of time here on Earth, God has an infinite amount of time.
Let us also not forget as we wake up each day that God determines our time on Earth, and what we do here on Earth determines what we do in heaven for eternity. So I challenge you to start living each day like it is your last, and remind yourself that you are constructing your eternal life in heaven.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. – Proverbs 16:9
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?[a] 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. -Matthew 6:25-34
